The area, honestly

Living in Ungasan for a month or more

Ungasan sits on the Bukit, the limestone peninsula at the southern tip of Bali, and it feels different from the rest of the island: dry, open, clifftop, with the best beaches in Bali a short ride away — Melasti, Karma, Nyang Nyang, Padang Padang and the Uluwatu breaks.

It is the quietest of the areas we operate in, and that cuts both ways. If you want surf, space and a genuinely calm month, it is hard to beat. If you want to walk to a choice of cafes every evening, Canggu or Sanur will suit you better — on the Bukit you ride to most things.

Per month, Ungasan is usually the best value of our four areas for a private pool villa, and it is the natural choice for surfers, writers and anyone whose month is built around the water rather than the town.

Which villas work best for a long stay in Ungasan

  • 1–2 bedroom eco villas for surfers, couples and solo long stays — our core stock here
  • Villas with a proper outdoor living area: on the Bukit you live outside, the climate is drier than the north
  • Anything within ten minutes of Melasti if beach access is what the month is about

Is Ungasan suitable for a month or longer?
Yes, if you want quiet and beaches over walkable nightlife. It is the calmest of our areas and usually the best value per month for a private pool villa.
How far is Uluwatu and Melasti?
Both are a short ride — roughly ten to twenty minutes depending on the villa and the traffic. The airport is about 30 minutes.
What is the minimum stay?
One calendar month.
Is electricity included?
No — metered and billed at cost. Housekeeping, pool and garden care, Wi-Fi and maintenance are included.
