The area, honestly
Canggu is where most people picture a Bali long stay: surf at Batu Bolong and Echo Beach, coworking spaces on every second corner, and the densest concentration of cafes, gyms and studios on the island. If your month is built around work, training and a social circle, this is the easiest place to land.
It is also the busiest. Traffic on the Shortcut and Batu Bolong at peak hours is real, and the further you sit from the main lanes the calmer the month becomes — which is why Pererenan, one ridge north, has become the choice of people on their second or third stay. Rice fields, the same beaches, a fraction of the noise.
Rates in Canggu run above Sanur for the same number of bedrooms, and the good long-stay villas are gone months ahead over the dry season. If you are planning June to September, book early.

This Villa is beautiful and a wonderful stay! The open Roman style architecture makes it feel very inviting with the beautiful yard by the river that you can hear running through the evening.
