Renting a villa in Bali

Renting a 1-Bedroom Villa in Bali

A 1-bedroom villa in Bali gives a couple or solo traveller a private pool and full kitchen for roughly what a mid-range hotel room costs, with the trade-off of less daily service.

A 1-bedroom villa in Bali is a small private house — usually one bedroom, one bathroom, a private pool and a kitchenette or full kitchen — built for a couple or solo traveller who wants privacy and space without paying for rooms they won’t use. It sits between a hotel room and a larger multi-bedroom villa: more private and self-contained than a hotel, simpler and cheaper than renting three empty bedrooms.

The core trade-off against a hotel is service level. You get your own pool and kitchen instead of a lobby, restaurant and daily turndown; whether that’s a good swap depends on how much you value privacy versus having staff on hand at all hours.

What’s actually included at this size

Our own 1-bedroom villas — the Eco Private, Eco Exclusive and Eco Tropical villas in Ungasan — are built from natural teak, each with a private pool, a double or king bed, a bathroom with a free-standing tub, and a desk. That’s a reasonable baseline for the category: private pool, one proper bedroom, a workspace, and a kitchenette rather than a full commercial kitchen.

Not every 1-bedroom villa includes a full kitchen — some lean toward a kitchenette suited to breakfast and light meals rather than cooking dinner for two every night. If cooking matters to your stay, ask specifically what’s in the kitchen before booking, rather than assuming “kitchen” in a listing means a full range and oven.

Where 1-bedroom villas cluster

In our own portfolio, the smaller villas sit in Ungasan on the Bukit clifftop — a quieter, more spread-out area with beach access at Melasti and Green Bowl a short drive away. That pattern holds more broadly across Bali too: smaller 1-bedroom properties tend to cluster in areas with more land per villa and less foot traffic, while denser areas like central Canggu or Seminyak lean toward larger multi-bedroom houses built for groups. If proximity to cafés and nightlife matters more than space and quiet, weigh that against the area, not just the bedroom count.

Price versus a hotel room

We don’t publish fixed rates here since they vary by season and length of stay, but the general shape holds: a 1-bedroom villa with a private pool is often close to, sometimes above, a mid-range hotel room rate per night, and becomes noticeably better value on a weekly or monthly booking where villa rates typically drop. For a short 2–3 night stay, a hotel might work out similar in cost with more built-in service; for a week or more, a villa usually wins on space and privacy for the same or less money.

Factor Hotel room 1-bedroom villa
Private pool Rare, usually shared Standard
Kitchen None Kitchenette or full kitchen
Daily service Included Housekeeping on request or set schedule
Best for Short stays, want full service Week+ stays, privacy, cooking own meals
Weekly discount Uncommon Typical — ask for the weekly rate

What to check before booking a small villa

A single bedroom means less flexibility if plans change — no second room for a friend joining last minute, and less separation if you’re working from the villa and also want downtime space. Check these specifically:

  • Is the kitchen a kitchenette or fully equipped for real cooking?
  • Is there a dedicated desk or workspace, separate from the bed, if you need to work?
  • What’s the housekeeping schedule — daily, or on request?
  • Is the pool fully private, or shared with a neighbouring villa?
  • How far is the villa from the nearest supermarket or warung for daily supplies?

When a 1-bedroom isn’t enough

If you’re expecting visitors, want a separate space to work while a partner relaxes, or are staying long enough that a second room would be genuinely useful, a 2-bedroom villa is a smaller cost jump than most people expect, especially outside peak season. It’s worth pricing both before assuming the smaller option is automatically the cheaper choice — some 2-bedroom villas in less central areas cost close to a 1-bedroom in a more in-demand one.

Booking length and direct discounts

We offer 5% off any stay, 10% off weekly bookings and 15% off monthly bookings when you book direct rather than through a platform — worth asking about upfront if you’re already looking at a week or more, since it changes the real comparison against a hotel considerably.

What to do next

Decide first whether you need a full kitchen or just breakfast basics, and how many nights you’re staying — that determines whether a 1-bedroom villa beats a hotel room on value for your specific trip.

  • Confirm kitchen setup and workspace before booking if either matters to your stay.
  • Ask for the weekly rate directly if staying 7+ nights.
  • Check pool privacy — shared versus fully private — if that’s important to you.

Message us on WhatsApp via our villa rentals page with your dates and we’ll confirm availability and a direct rate the same day.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1-bedroom villa cheaper than a hotel in Bali?

It depends on length of stay. For a short 2–3 night trip the cost can be similar to a mid-range hotel room; for a week or more, villa rates typically drop and offer more space and privacy for close to the same money.

Do 1-bedroom villas in Bali have a full kitchen?

Not always — some have a kitchenette suited to light meals rather than full cooking. Confirm the exact kitchen setup with the manager before booking if cooking dinner is part of your plan.

Are 1-bedroom villas good for remote work?

Many are, particularly ones with a dedicated desk separate from the bed. Confirm Wi-Fi speed and workspace setup specifically if you need to work during the stay.

What areas have the most 1-bedroom villas in Bali?

Quieter, more spread-out areas like Ungasan on the Bukit tend to have more standalone smaller villas, while denser areas closer to nightlife lean toward larger multi-bedroom houses built for groups.

Can I get a discount for booking a 1-bedroom villa directly?

Yes, direct bookings with us come with 5% off any stay, 10% off weekly stays and 15% off monthly stays, without the booking fees a platform would add.
